Mother’s Day weekend is a time of love and celebration, but masked ICE agents followed Trump’s violent strategy of racist division and snatched a Worcester mother instead. Refusing to show IDs and warrants, a crowd of mostly women thought their neighbor was being kidnapped and bravely confronted the brutal take down.
It’s time to put our own bodies on the line and say ENOUGH. Enough to Gestapo-like tactics. Enough to racist targeting. White people have a particular responsibility in this time: to step up and stand alongside our immigrant neighbors.
On this mass call, we talked about the history and use of anti-immigrant sentiment in authoritarian regimes. We heard from Bruna Sollod of United We Dream Action about how they’re organizing against the authoritarian playbook. And we talked candidly about the role of white people in this moment – how we want to show up not as white saviors or allies, but in true solidarity.
Here is the recording of the call, which includes the script and captions.
