From dangerous, under-qualified cabinet appointees to previewing an authoritarian agenda, MAGA is getting into formation to hit the ground running in January 2025. That means we also have just under two months to get ready, rest up, and rise to meet the moment.
Today, SURJ is launching a 10-week training series for white people to get ready to fight back under Trump. Gear Up is a learning, training, and action program. Participants will learn strategy and history from experts across social justice movements. SURJ members and leaders will train you in organizing skills. And then, we’ll take collective action together as a Gear Up team.

We’ll dig into topics like: the history of how we got to this moment, organizing strategies under authoritarianism, how to talk to other white people about racism, and more.
The first training, “Trump, MAGA, and 77 Million Votes: How did we get here??” with political strategists Linda Burnham and Ash-Lee Woodard-Henderson is December 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET. And then it will run weekly (with a break for the winter holidays) until February 12.
