Interim Southern Crossroads (SCOPE) Director

Part Time, Temporary, Remote, $9,372 for 3 month contract

The Interim SCOPE Director coordinates and supports the SCOPE staff in implementing SURJ’s Southern rural organizing approach through building multiracial working class organizing campaigns with a rural strategy in TN and GA. This is a part-time, interim position from May 15- August 15, 2023 with primary responsibilities for supervising five (5) people, ensuring existing strategy is being implemented, and serving as a connector between SURJ’s Assistant Director and the SCOPE staff.

Grassroots Organizing Director

Full Time, Remote, $95,000

The Grassroots Organizing Director plays a key role in executing SURJ’s ambitious plans to grow a mass number/base of poor and working people as part of a multiracial working class movement needed to defeat authoritarianism and win transformative change. This role is responsible for the cohesion and day-to-day functioning of SURJ’s grassroots organizing projects, supporting them in building their work in various regions to organize in majority white communities using a shared interest framework. An ideal candidate for this role is an experienced organizer who is serious about building institutions and who is highly skilled in supporting others to lead. A strong candidate will be equal parts strategist, supervisor and department-builder.

Senior Donor Organizer

Full Time, Remote, $90,000

The Senior Donor Organizer will work closely with the Director of Impact, the Deputy Development Director, the SURJ Board, the Impact Team, and SURJ organizers to build out a donor community and increase the number and size of major gift contributions ranging from $10,000 to $50,000, including holding some relationships who contribute more. This role will also work with the Deputy Development Director, the Impact Team, and organizers to build systems that effectively steward donor relationships at all levels. SURJ is aiming to build a distributed culture of fundraising, which means that this position will be focused not just on raising money directly, but will also work with a broad group of individuals to build fundraising skills and make asks. SURJ Development encompasses a holistic approach to cultivating engagement, participation and financial support for the work and mission of SURJ.

Impact Team Organizer

Full Time, Remote, $90,000

The Impact Team Organizer plays a critical role within the Development department responsible for managing high-touch relationships across the country with some of SURJ’s most trusted donors, advocates and stakeholders. The Impact Team is comprised of donors, board members, staff members and SURJ volunteers, all of whom are equipped specifically to raise funds and manage donor relationships on behalf of SURJ. This fundraising model requires intense project and relationship management from a skilled donor organizer who can set up the Impact Team for success through the creation of donor prospecting materials, segmented lists for contact, script development, holding bi-monthly or quarterly meetings, and supporting and coaching folks with a wide range of fundraising experience. This role requires some travel, but it is primarily remote. The person filling this role will have experience in board management, donor organizing, and moving staff or volunteers to make solicitations on behalf of a nonprofit organization. While the person in this role needs to have extensive fundraising experience themselves, their primary role will be to support other people in raising money.
