Distributed Voter Contact Organizer

Full Time, Remote, $57,000

SURJ is seeking a Distributed Voter Contact Organizer to manage SURJ’s distributed voter contact program in 2024 as part of our National Organizing Department. A successful person in this role will bring a highly-collaborative, creative, and adaptive approach to build on SURJ’s existing organizing model to meet the immense opportunities (and likely challenges!) in the year ahead. This person will be able to hold in balance the need for us to both reach our short-term goals of staving off an authoritarian takeover of the federal government and build a bigger and more powerful movement for the long-run.

Administrative Assistant to the Development Team

Full Time, Remote, $60,000

SURJ is seeking an experienced, reliable and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to the Development Team to support SURJ’s Director of Impact (DOI) and the development team. They will support the DOI as they guide the organization through a time of rapid and extensive growth with ambitious fundraising goals. A successful person in this role will become a trusted extension of the DOI in many ways, providing real-time support and proactively anticipating their needs as well as the needs of the development team and the broader organization. They will be highly organized, be able to take direction and execute impact, be a strong communicator, and be the “calm in a storm”. They will also have strong project management skills, be relatable, and be able to stay organized amidst shifting priorities and conditions.

Tennessee Lead Rural Organizer

Full Time, Remote, $60,000

SURJ is seeking a Tennessee Lead Rural Organizer to help grow the grassroots power of low income and working class tenants across Tennessee by building tenant unions in small towns and cities and rural areas, to support the development of statewide power building, and help build the TN4SafeHomes network through base building and grassroots campaigns. They will lead the team to identify and invest in tenant leaders in key rural and small town locations to support them in building tenant unions and other tenant formations, as well as other strategic areas across the state. The Tennessee Lead Rural Organizer should live in Tennessee (or plan to relocate quickly), will be expected to travel around Tennessee multiple times per week and occasionally outside of the state with members or to conferences, and will need to have access to reliable and consistent means of transportation.

Grassroots Organizing Director

Full Time, Remote, $95,000

The Grassroots Organizing Director plays a key role in executing SURJ’s ambitious plans to grow a mass number/base of poor and working people as part of a multiracial working class movement needed to defeat authoritarianism and win transformative change. This role is responsible for the cohesion and day-to-day functioning of SURJ’s grassroots organizing projects, supporting them in building their work in various regions to organize in majority white communities using a shared interest framework. An ideal candidate for this role is an experienced organizer who is serious about building institutions and who is highly skilled in supporting others to lead. A strong candidate will be equal parts strategist, supervisor and department-builder.

Digital Content Strategist

Full Time, Remote, $70,000

SURJ is seeking a Digital Content Strategist to sharpen our digital strategies to bring millions of white people into alignment with movements for justice and polarize them away from the far Right. This position will drive our social media strategy across SURJ’s various audiences and organizing projects– from local projects in the rural South to our national electoral work– to work towards our organizational goals. Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about stopping an authoritarian takeover of the federal government in 2024, and building a base to win real change beyond. We are looking for someone who tracks both the news cycle and internet trends with an excitement to take risks and experiment with creative tactics for engagement and narrative change.
