All positions are remote with some travel required throughout the year. National Organizing Department (NOD) Director

Full Time, Remote, $87,500

SURJ is seeking a National Organizing Department (NOD) Director to drive the execution of the department’s organizing plans, supervise organizing managers, and ensure department-wide systems are operating smoothly so as to maximize external impact. A successful person in this role will bring a resourced and grounded commitment to base building and organizing white people at scale, a genuine interest in working hands-on with a talented staff of organizers, and a systems approach to project managing big plans. They will be a skilled and experienced organizing practitioner who can function independently and who has experience running projects or campaigns that integrate and balance leadership development, campaign strategy, and winning change. The NOD Director must be an excellent supervisor and project manager who ensures that the staff team of organizers are coordinated, clear on division of labor and priorities, and able to work effectively at a high level.

Interim Assistant Director

Temporary Full Time, Remote, $120,000 Annual

This is a temporary position running full time from July 1, 2025 – August 1, 2026. During this period, the current Executive Director will be on out parental leave and the current Assistant Director will be the interim director. Upon the Executive Director’s return from parental leave, the current assistant director will be on sabbatical. This role is intended to provide organizing direction and organizational stability during this period. The Interim Assistant Director is responsible for the cohesion and day-to-day functioning of all of SURJ’s organizing programs and helps in the management of movement partnerships. They are responsible for ensuring strong coordination and communication across SURJ’s organizing programs, and supervise SURJ’s Organizing Directors in developing, planning, and executing SURJ’s strategic organizing work.

Digital Content Strategist

Full Time, Remote, $67,500

SURJ is seeking a Digital Content Strategist to sharpen our digital strategies to bring millions of white people into alignment with movements for justice and polarize them away from the far Right. This position will drive our social media strategy across SURJ’s various audiences and organizing projects– from local projects in the rural South to our national electoral work– to work towards our organizational goals. Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about stopping an authoritarian takeover of the federal government in 2024, and building a base to win real change beyond. We are looking for someone who tracks both the news cycle and internet trends with an excitement to take risks and experiment with creative tactics for engagement and narrative change.

Punch Up Lead Organizer

Full Time, Remote, $67,500

This position is the staff anchor and lead organizer for Punch Up, an organizing project recently integrated into SURJ that has an existing core of 16 member-leaders. The Punch Up Lead Organizer will build out the Punch Up organizing project by guiding and supporting the Punch Up member-leaders in identifying issues that resonate with their target base of poor and working white men, designing organizing and narrative campaigns, and building a powerful membership base through strong recruitment, absorption, and leadership development tactics. The Punch Up Lead Organizer will work collaboratively across the SURJ team.
