This Labor Day, we’re doing more than firing up the grill — we’re reigniting a national fight. The same powerhouse coalition of social movement organizations and labor unions behind May Day is back at it again this September 1 to demand #WorkersOverBillionaires.
On May Day, hundreds of thousands of us took to the streets in more than 800 cities and towns, organizing over a thousand events that lifted up public schools, healthcare, housing, dignity, and a government that serves working families instead of billionaire fortunes. That momentum is carrying forward into Labor Day, when we continue the fight for the world workers deserve!
Labor Day itself was born from struggle. It was created by workers who risked everything to demand fair hours, safe conditions, and basic dignity. This year, we’re reclaiming that legacy by taking the fight directly to the billionaires and politicians who hoard wealth, privatize public goods, and use state power against working people. The movement we’re building is not symbolic, but strategic– drawing on the spirit of union organizing and grassroots resistance.
Already, communities across the country are preparing actions for September 1. Neighbors, coworkers, educators, nurses, flight attendants, housing justice advocates, environmental organizers, and countless others are standing together in solidarity. Whether you’re joining an existing event or hosting one of your own, you can find support, resources, and a full event map at maydaystrong.org!
