As Trump begins his march to the White House with terrifying headlines every day, so many of us are still stuck on the question: how did we get here?
This Wednesday, December 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT, we’ll dive into that very question at our webinar, “Trump, MAGA, and 77 million votes: how did we get here??” We’ll be joined in conversation by brilliant movement strategists and organizers, Ash-Lee Woodard Henderson and Linda Burnham who will take us through a discussion about the rise of the far-right, the history of strategic racism, and the shortcomings of the Democratic party.
In the weeks before Trump’s inauguration, now is the time to slow down and look deeply at the long historical arc of how MAGA rose to power. We must understand why he won in order to effectively fight back in the four years ahead, and build enough power to beat him in 2028 and other MAGA candidates along the way.
In the training portion of the call following the discussion, SURJ organizers will lead us through the basics of one of SURJ’s fundamental organizing building blocks: shared interest storytelling.
