Sign the pledge to take action on May Day 2026!

This year, SURJ is joining hundreds of our labor, immigrant rights and community partners like Chicago Teacher’s Union, Indivisible and more on May 1st, 2026 – a Workers Over Billionaires national day of action with 600 actions currently planned across the country. As Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible said, May Day is a “tactical escalation- an economic show of force.” In advance of May Day, we’re asking our members to not only show up on May 1, but to pledge to personally commit to a day of “No School, No Work, No Shopping.”

May Day is now only two weeks away. Can you join SURJ and take the pledge to stop business as usual and show up for May Day?

Following the examples of the 2006 Day Without Immigrants, Black-led corporate campaigns that have unseated CEOs, and Minnesota’s resistance to occupation, thousands of organizations across the country are calling for a mass day of action and a day of “No School, No Work, No Shopping” to disrupt the violent billionaire takeover of our country and to put working families first. Because when the billionaires break every rule, it’s going to take more than a rally to stop them. Learn more about the May Day Strong coalition here.

As SURJ members, it’s our role to organize white people into solidarity with our Black and Brown neighbors, and away from the rich, white elite – because we all deserve to live dignified lives with good healthcare, safe housing, and steady jobs with fair wages. In moments like this, we need masses of white people to show up, and we need to let other white people know that they belong in our movement.

See you on May 1st!
