We are heartbroken that Rep. Jamaal Bowman lost the Democratic primary in NY-16. But I could not be more proud of this organization and the wide, multiracial coalition we built with our partners at the Working Families Party, If Not Now, the Sunrise Movement, JVP Action, Protect Our Power, and more.
AIPAC and MAGA megadonors had to spend $18 million to beat us. This is a testament to the power of our movements– they know we are a serious threat. And in the midst of this loss, we are building infrastructure for more fights ahead to show up even more powerfully to keep them on the run- and win.

I am proud over 1,000 SURJ members took action with us on this campaign, taking on challenging persuasion conversations with conflicted white voters who were being bombarded with racist dog whistles and misinformation. Our chapters in Westchester and New York City led our efforts to canvass 3,700 households and our national phone banks made over 280k calls!
We’re growing from this powerful foundation. Over 2,600 SURJ members have taken action with us this year and we are running one of the largest volunteer voter contact programs in the country. We’ve deepened relationships, trained up new leaders, and built not only organizing systems, but a vibrant culture ready to bring in thousands more white people.
Next up, we’re channeling our power towards Rep. Cori Bush in MO and Rep. Ilhan Omar in MN who will be facing millions from AIPAC and the same strategies of division aimed at white voters. Can you give a gift to SURJ today to help us keep AIPAC and MAGA on the run?
PS: if you’re ready to protect Cori and Ilhan, sign up to phonebank with us!
