Courage, not compliance: how you can organize resistance in your community

Teachers and bus drivers pledging to resist ICE raids. Doctors continuing healthcare for trans kids. Religious leaders protecting vulnerable people in their communities. Across the country, regular people are stepping up and refusing to enact the racist, violent, billionaire-driven Trump agenda.

As you know, through SURJ’s Gear Up training program, hundreds of SURJers across the country organized elected officials and leaders in their communities to take our Pledge to Protect and Resist, a public commitment to non-compliance under this administration.

And now, we’re taking the pledge and the organizing training program public, so that anyone can have access to our learning materials and join this campaign.

Join SURJ and our partners to publicly launch the Pledge to Resist and Protect campaign on March 19 at 5 pm PT / 8 pm ET at our call, “Courage, not compliance: how you can organize resistance in your community”

In this online training, you’ll hear from ordinary working class people about what this organizing looked like in their community, and how you can join in the efforts. Then, after the call, you’ll receive a copy of our Pledge Organizing Guide– a step-by-step tool that you can use to organize in your own community.

In the midst of these tremendously violent and challenging first 100 days, we are reminded that throughout history, multiracial coalitions of working class people have come together to build the collective power needed to topple authoritarian agendas. This is our inheritance– join us to step into it.

This is the second webinar in SURJ’s ongoing series, “Protect & Resist: First 100 Days Action and Training Program.” We are also hosting twice-monthly online action hours. You can join the other events here.

The training and the Pledge to Resist and Protect is sponsored by the following organizations: SURJ, Right to the City Alliance, Rising Majority, the Highlander Center.
