As we round out the first month in the Trump presidency, we’re writing today with a way to turn your despair into action.
Last week, we launched our new series, “Protect & Resist: a first 100 days learning and action program” with a call with Dr. Robin DG Kelley where we went into the racist history of defunding public infrastructure (the recording is on our website).
This series is two parts– learning and action– and this week, you can join us for the action part. On Wednesday, February 26 at 5 pm PT / 8 pm ET, we’re holding our first action hour in the first 100 days program. Join SURJers new and old to take collective action to protect vulnerable communities against MAGA’s aggressions and resist their illegal, immoral agenda.
Already signed up? Thank you! Can you invite two friends who are looking for a way to plug in?
This week, we’ll be taking action against the SAVE Act– which would disenfranchise millions of voters, speaking out against proposed cuts to food, childcare, healthcare, and more.
These action hours will include a training portion on how to make calls or take other forms of online action, as well as a political grounding in why we’re doing this particular action and what the implications are.
For brand new people, there will also be an orientation breakout room where you can learn more about SURJ as an organization and how to get more involved.
The despair and fear are real. And– one of the surest ways to move through them is collective action in supportive community. Join us on Thursday to find both.
