Help us elect candidates that will stand up to ICE

This past week, ICE murdered two more people in broad daylight: Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Texas and Joan Sebastian Guerrero in Maine. Their communities are grieving, and across the country, people are demanding justice and accountability for all of the innocent people killed by ICE agents.

For those of us who care about stopping the violence, one of the most effective things we can do right now is put candidates in Congress who will end funding to DHS and ICE. Right now, SURJ is focusing on two candidates who will do just that: Will Lawrence in Michigan and Kaela Berg in Minnesota. Can you join us to call voters to make sure we put people in office who will end funding for this racist violence?

Will Lawrence (MI-07) is an organizer, coalition-builder, and co-founder of the Sunrise Movement running to represent Michigan’s 7th Congressional District in Lansing on a platform of affordable housing, healthcare for all, taxing the billionaire class, and ending US support for war overseas. Will is currently leading in nearly every poll, despite hundreds of thousands of dollars in attack ads from mainstream liberal super PACs. Primary date: August 4th.

Kaela Berg (MN-02) is an organizer, flight attendant, union leader with AFA/CWA, and a Minnesota State Representative. She has worked up to three jobs, bought groceries from the dollar store to feed her family, and lived without health insurance during a global pandemic and she is now running to represent Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District to fight for working class people like her. Primary date: August 11th.

You don’t need to be an expert on any issue, or have any phonebank experience– just show up and connect with voters like you across the country as we fight for every lever of power we can grab.

Can you join our next phone bank this Thursday, 7/16 on Zoom? Training and support always included.
