Standing up to the billionaire agenda: SURJ in conversation with Graham Platner

Last night, we heard from Graham on several issues as he spoke with our national director, Erin Heaney– his decision to run for US Senate, how he plans to demand more of the mainstream Democratic establishment, his support of immigrants, trans rights, and a free Palestine, and so much more!

As Trump continues to escalate war in the Middle East, we have the chance to put an anti-war, anti-billionaire Senator in office. Can you join us this week to put Graham Platner in office?

“I am running on my politics, and my politics absolutely is one that believes that we need to be clear about the existence of white supremacy and its legacy still in our society. It’s a politics that believes that we absolutely need to redistribute wealth. Because it’s been redistributed, just upwards, and we need to use policies to bring it back.”—Graham Platner

We also heard from Katie, a SURJ member from Maine, about her experience as a mom, nurse, and lifelong Mainer, and why she’s enthusiastically supporting Graham’s campaign in her home state:

“I support Graham because at the end of the day, I want Susan Collins out of office, and Graham is the best person to do that. He’s drawing huge crowds not only to hear him speak but to take real, sustained action on issues that impact real people. I’ve met more than one person who turned out for an action–whether it was a simple low lift action like calling elected officials to something bigger, like deep canvassing – for the very first time because of the Platner campaign. I believe him when he says he wants to build a movement that’s not going to end on election day. He understands that we ourselves may not live to see the world we are fighting for, but fight we must.”
