Action opportunities this week– no war with Iran, SURJ trainings, and more

Over the weekend, the Trump administration attacked Iran without Congressional approval and the death toll is already over 500. In the days ahead, we as white Americans must do whatever we can in our power to demand: No War With Iran! Use this tool to tell Congress to pass the War Powers Resolution to stop Trump’s massive overreach and then join a protest near you.

We know that wars do not make any of us safer. They benefit a tiny number of people whose billionaire agenda will cause death and destruction across the Middle East, fuel racism and Islamophobia here at home, and come at the cost of millions of Americans who are barely making ends meet.

This week makes it clear: authoritarianism here in the US has deadly implications across the entire globe. This is a time to take action to stop the war in Iran and to recommit to the work we have here at home: building a massive resistance person by person, community by community, from the ballot box to city blocks– to take on our responsibility as white people in the fight of our lifetimes.

Join us on Wednesday at 8 pm ET for the launch of our training series, “Block by Block,” to plug in with SURJ and do your part this year. If you watched from afar as the community in Minneapolis came together to organize against ICE and thought, “I wish I had that here!” this is your chance to learn how to build neighborhood organizing infrastructure that is connected to our broader movement for change.

Whether you’re a seasoned organizer or this is your first action, Block by Block will be a space where anyone can get the skills they need to show up in 2026 to build progressive power, stop MAGA, and move more white people into a movement of working people fighting for our families, not the agendas of oil barons or tech billionaires.

As Anne Braden wrote: “The real danger today comes from the people in high places, from the halls of Congress to the boardrooms of big corporations, who are telling the white people if their taxes are eating up their paychecks, it’s not because of a bloated military budget, but because of government programs that benefit Black people…Our problem is the people in power who are creating a scapegoat mentality.”

Join us in our work to reject scapegoats everywhere, direct blame where it belongs, and bring our people with us.
