Building on the momentum of Zohran Mamdani’s primary upset victory in June, we held one-on-one conversations with white working class people in districts the campaign wasn’t reaching and that the Democratic establishment has written off as being lost to the right. We targeted white voters across the five boroughs of New York who were likely to be Zohran supporters — who were also being targeted by the right with an onslaught of race-baiting and dog whistles — to hold critical conversations that often provided an opportunity for voters to talk through their doubts and concerns and be able to confidently head to the polls for Zohran. In the end, we made nearly 100,000 turnout dials and knocked 3,000 doors.
